CHAPTER FOUR

Campbell moved silently through the house. He wasn’t sure if anyone was there apart from himself, Tristan, and Ryan, but he wasn’t taking any chances. It seemed unlikely they would leave the three of them there unsupervised. He found Cade’s wing of the house fairly fast, he assumed it was laid out in a power and seniority plan which would put Cade, being the youngest, at the back of the house. Cade’s wing was similar to James’, set up like a large apartment with everything you would need in the one space. He found Tristan and Ryan there, walking around investigating the area. “Hey you guys.” Campbell came up behind them and started to walk with them.

“Hey Camp.” They both said in unison. “We’re just looking around. I’ve been so caught up with Cade and all that I haven’t had a chance to really look the place over.” Tristan explained.

“Caught up in Cade; wow that’s an understatement.” Campbell snorted.

“No different than you and James. I saw the two of you going at it in the woods.” Ryan defended his brother. Tristan chuckled.

“ And what about Kellan?” Campbell shot back at Ryan too knowing. He waited for confirmation and got it in the deep red blush that stole up Ryan’s neck and face.

“Well it’s mostly all me. He hasn’t touched me, at all except to steady my balance once when I stumbled.” He glanced at the floor uncomfortably and then back up at Campbell. “He is so hot you know and I’ve tried to get my hands on him but he keeps stepping away like I’m a leper or something.”

“I didn’t know you were gay Ry.” Campbell stated.

Ryan smiled mischievously. “Neither did I until I met Kellan, wow what a man.” He ended with a large toothy smile. “It seems we’re all gay all day around here.” Ryan laughed when Campbell and Tristan shot him wounding looks.

“Seriously guys, our libidos aside, I think we may be in some trouble here.” Campbell didn’t want to scare them, but he believed that they were being prepared for something and it was probably in their best interest to make a hasty departure. Everyone was at the river, probably taking part in a ceremony. He explained the River Firth and its meaning and what he’d witnessed when he was fifteen. “Don’t you think it a little odd that all three of us seem to be overwhelmingly attracted to one of these guys? It’s like we’re being prepared for something and they need us to be willing participants.” Campbell waited as the understanding set in for both of them. Tristan absently reached up and fingered the scar on his neck drawing Campbell’s attention to it. He pulled the collar of his shirt to the side and looked at the deep scar that looked like a bite mark. “What is this?”

“Cade said I was his mate. He claimed me during . . . during sex and he bit me. It’s really sensitive but only when Cade touches it.
